Brianna Heida came into her new role as a stepmom thinking “I’ve got this” because of her success in parenting her own children. However, while she absolutely knows how to parent her two daughters, she soon realized that it’s a very different ballgame parenting someone else’s kids. Brianna has been on both sides of this story, both as a stepmom and being the biological mother in a step situation. She states that, like many things with parenting, it has caused struggles with identity as her role is constantly changing. Her role as a mother was suddenly threatened by the fact that she now had to share that with someone else. She uses that feeling to help her as she wrestles with her own identity as a stepmom. She states “we often feel like we’re not enough and too much at the same time.” Through it all, she has seen so much of God’s faithfulness in how He has challenged her and developed her growth as she navigates the arduous but rewarding life as a stepmom.

Psalm 27:8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me. ”And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
